To participate and compete in MMA activities requires a high level of fitness. To stay in top form you need to participate in a variety of exercises, which work on different body parts that are pushed to their limits in MMA.

Rushfit is a legendary MMA fighter and he uses this dedicated training program to stay in top shape.

For these exercises, you need to focus on building strength, endurance and self-survival mechanisms.

Building strength is vital so you have the ability to overcome any challenges your opponent sends your way. You need to be able to overpower him or her by using grabbing or throwing techniques and not be injured at the same time.

To do this you need to work on developing a strong core, strong muscles on your legs so you can leverage your weight and the weight of the opponent, and strong back, shoulder and arm muscles.

Endurance is build up through a series of cardio workouts of high impact, very challenging workouts of short duration and with minimum rest intervals. This way you will train yourself to build up stamina and endurance to survive a fight challenge.

For this, your heart and lungs will really be working hard. Of course, you need to be mentally on top of your game or your mind will be defeated first and your body will respond accordingly.

In addition to your overall fitness, you need to learn survival techniques to keep you a step in front of your opponent. For this I mean being able to throw short sharp punches, fast throws and an ability to get out of the way fast of oncoming attack!

There is a lot of work to be done to do MMA seriously so your workout needs to reflect everything I have addressed in brief here.

Ensure any workout you do, ticks all the boxes and don’t forget to have fun! The GSP Rushfit program will work you hard but you will gain muscle strength, lose weight, lose fat, build power, endurance, build a strong core and make you more flexible and agile.

Building muscle is one of the key components of the George St Pierre workout program. Many people do not realise that building muscle has multiple benefits for the body.

Not only do muscles provide a support system for the skeleton holding it together which is its main function, but it also has a number of other roles I will discuss in brief here.

  • Well-toned muscles will help give shape to the body so you will look better and carry yourself better.

  • You will be less likely to suffer from poor posture or other injuries caused by poor muscle tone where the body is not moving and holding itself as it should.

  • Muscles also need a fuel source to work so muscles effectively use the energy from food as fuel and thus you can either eat more and gain less fat which is where unused calories taken in by the body goes, or by eating the same as always effectively lose weight.

  • Muscles also play a little known role in the immune system where they help transport lymph and blood around the body though the “squeezing” action of the muscles.

  • Having blood and lymph effectively transported around the body ensure that by-products are drained away and nutrients and cells involved in the immune system are delivered to target organs.

The George St Pierre Workout is designed to build muscle using weights not exceeding 25lbs. The success of the exercises lie in the intensity and repetition of the exercise in addition to the type of exercise carried out.

When building muscle, the first area to concentrate on is developing a strong core. These are the muscles around the mid area of the body from back to front. Once these are strong, developing the other muscle groups will be easier to accomplish.

The George St Pierre program is special as it works equally well for men as for women and there is not a minimum fitness level you need to achieve before you begin the program. As it is a total body conditioning workout, your whole body will be worked over and this includes all the important muscle groups so you will get the most from your workout.

Using George St Pierres workout you will learn how to develop a six-pack to be proud of!

Have a look at Rushfits abs and behind that ripped torso is a lot of hard work, sheer determination and lots of sweat. Getting a six-pack like Rushfit can be done but you must do it the right way for results to be effective.

Most people thing that to get a six-pack all you have to do is a series of exercises specifically for abs but any muscle you build up will remain hidden under a wall of fat that lies over the abdomen so your six-pack will never be seen.

Do not despair however as there are only a few things you need to concentrate on if you want to look like George St Pierre.

  • You really do need to look at diet and ensure you are getting plenty of protein as that is needed for muscle building. It is understood cut down on all junk food and empty calorie foods-why waste all that training on something that may taste good but give very little in return? Drink plenty of water, get many fresh fruit, and remember to eat regularly throughout the day to keep your blood sugar levels up and keep away those sugar cravings!

  • Get rid of that layer of fat getting between you and your six-pack abs by engaging in cardio exercises. These are the types of exercises needed to burn fats.

  • Do not train the abs every day as your muscles will need time to recover-a few times a week is enough.

  • When you train, use some form of resistance training so your muscles really are exercised. The George St Pierre workout uses a series of dumbbells or hand held weights that do not exceed 25 lb so really anyone can do this.

Doing a heavy workout such as the Rushfit workout can play havoc with your muscles. In addition to resting, muscle recovery requires the right nutrition. By eating the right foods, your muscles can recover faster after exercise allowing them to grow and repair.

In addition to looking after your muscles, lowering your recovery time and ensuring any injuries are kept to a minimum, you also need to eat for good health. Getting vitamins, minerals, essential fatty acids, amino acids and other nutrients is essential for maintaining good health. However, this does not have to mean hard work.

Superfoods To Eat

Eat fish at least twice a week. Salmon is high in Omega-3 fatty acids and protein. Omega 3 has been found to decrease inflammation and reduce the activity of enzymes that cause cartilage loss.

If you need a snack, mixed nuts and seeds is an excellent choice. These include walnuts, brazil nuts, almonds, pumpkin and sunflower seeds. They are high in vitamins and minerals in addition to Omega 3 and protein.

Cherries are another good food to keep you healthy. They are high in an antioxidant and anti-inflammatory called Quercitin and Anthocyanin that has been found to protect cells.

Berries also make an excellent snack or pick me up. They contain polyphenols, which are responsible for neutralizing free radicals. Free radicals have been linked to inflammation, premature aging, and increase the onset of many illnesses and diseases. Examples of good berry sources include blueberries, cranberries, raspberries, and blackberries.

Juicy pineapples are great for rehydrating and they have excellent health boosting properties. They contain a very special enzyme called Bromelain, which reduces inflammation and joint pain.

Ginger is another great one for reducing swelling and inflammation, as is turmeric. Use these as part of your meals for added benefits!

David asks…

What are the name of some fighting moves [Descriptions Please]?

Okay, so I’m writing an Original novel, and I really need some help with the whole fighting aspect of it. The character has had martial arts training from various sources, but has no problem with mixing in some dirty street-fighting in there, too.

Descriptions would be incredibly helpful, because I need to know what a certain move IS, you know? Maybe useful youtube videos could be linked, too.

Thanks for your help,

Nixxie.

mike answers:

You could try this site as it lists some basic martial arts moves and provides links to some other more advanced moves as well: http://martialarts.about.com/od/martialartsbasics/a/overviewmarts.htm Rushfit

Betty asks…

Why don’t police officers get better training?

Well I was watching a video and saw abunch of different clips of police getting beat up by guys, 1 was by an ex-boxer. So I thought “I bet if you put George st. Pierre in a uniform, gave him a badge and a gun that he wont get the shit kicked out of him” so why don’t they teach police officers Mixed Martial Arts or something like that?
your right, they should be taught better the UFC fighters! Well I don’t think they should, personally I don’t care about the police to much, I just don’t know why they aren’t

mike answers:

Despite what most people think, most officers are just normal people doing an abnormal job. They aren’t superman, aren’t trained fighters, and aren’t expert marksman. They are simply people who are willing to risk their lives for the greater good.

Laura asks…

Can I learn stuff like BJJ, Kickboxing, etc without a teacher?

Its a dream of mine to become a UFC or WEC fighter. I’d probably be a middleweight. But right now I can’t really go to a training center because of my parents. My friends told me they’d be willing to help me train until I can get a teacher. Do you think I can learn proper mixed martial arts in the meantime using videos, websites, etc, and training with friends? Or would it be a waste of time. It must have some benefit no?

mike answers:

Well its better than nothing and yes you will be able to learn but there will be no one to correct you so you might be praticing something that is wrong.

High protien diet to a very low fat diet… Plus to look like georges st peire you’ll need to be hitting the gym properly for a good 2 months plus with weights and workout program. Tell the gym instructor your goal and he’ll help you devise a weekly plan

Chris asks…

whats the best type of fighting training i can get that has all of the mixed martial arts moves?

like grappling punching slapping lol kicking and all those other sweet ninja moves because karate just wont do it for me i want something better any one know tell me please

mike answers:

Most kung fu styles, all karate styles, japanese jujutsu, etc. Many styles are complete systems covering grappling and strings , stand up and ground.

There is no best style.

Your size, body type and sex have nothing to do with the style you want to choose. People that think that your size and body type determine the style know little to nothing about martial arts.
People of all various so called body types, are found in all styles of martial arts and do well in those styles

Most people will tell you there style is the best or they heard such and such is a great style,
The style is not important, what matters is how good your instructor is and how you train. The style is secondary, they all have there pro’s and con’s there are no superior styles.
If you have an instructor that can’t teach you how to fight, regardless of the style, what good would it do you?

Choose a school with a good instructor in the end that’s all that matters, that and how you train.
Its the person that has the ability to fight not the style. Check out Rushfit to see how he moves….

Joseph asks…

What a good site for learning mixed martial arts moves?

as a reference aid…

mike answers:

None.
Go to a martial arts school.

Mark asks…

I need to know what a Mixed Martial Arts move is called?

When your opponent tries to kick you and you catch his foot, and kick out the other one, and he falls. what is this called?

mike answers:

Take down, Trip, Sweep. Sounds like a basic “trip” to me. Nothing fancy.

Jenny asks…

Why aren’t there any Mortal Kombat moves allowed in Mixed Martial Arts?

That would make the sport really cool.

mike answers:

Same reason Chuck Norris isn’t allowed in MMA matches….too deadly

Will GSP’S RushFit make you or help you gain muscle?

i weigh 135 i want to gain more muscle mass so i can put more weight on me will this program work?

mike answers:

The program is geared mainly to get in great shape and you will put on some muscle. More like obtaining a lean look as it is heavily conditioning oriented.

Is it worth getting?

mike answers:

Yes

Jenny asks…

Is GSP’s Rushfit for me?

I recently got Georges St.Pierre’s Rushfit programme and have come to the end of week one.

Rushfit is for overall conditioning and endurance not bodybuilding but you will build some muscle-stick with the nutritional plan too.

Richard asks…

P90X/Insanity Hybrid vs. Rushfit?

Just finished P90x and Insanity and I found a great Hybrid program and have been doing it for a week. I like it a lot. Then I stumbled across Rushfit, it looks interesting and different. I’m curious to try it and wondering what kind of results I’ll get that is different from P90X and/or Insanity. Anyone try Rushfit? How does it compare? Thanks

mike answers:

Tried both-definitely Rushfit rocks!
